Ms. Prince explained that the
purpose of the meeting was to provide local Councillors with an opportunity to offer comments
regarding their thoughts on what role the County Official Plan should preform. To assist with the
discussion, the following five questions were addressed:

1. What level of Environmentally Significant Area (ESA) should the County Official Plan
require to be protected? Provincial Policy establishes that Provincially Significant Areas
must be protected, Regionally Significant Areas need a study in order to be developed
and development of Locally Significant Areas are at the option of the approval authority.
In light of comments received during the Public Consultation sessions to preserve natural
areas, should the County Official Plan go beyond Provincial Policy when attempting to
protect locally significant natural areas?

-
