CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF LAKESHORE <br />BY-LAW 111 -2009 <br />BEING A BY-LAW TO AMEND BY-LAW NUMBER 4-2006 <br />(A BY-LAW TO REGULATE VEHICULAR PARKING <br />WITHIN THE TOWN OF LAKESHORE ON MUNICIPAL <br />STREETS, MUNICIPAL PARKING LOTS AND PRIVATE <br />PROPERTIES) <br />WHEREAS the Corporation of the Town of Lakeshore did enact By-law number 4- <br />2006 of the said Corporation on the 14th day of February, 2006; <br />AND WHEREAS the Corporation of the Town of Lakeshore now deems it expedient <br />to provide for certain limited exemptions from the provisions of By-law number 4- <br />2006; <br />NOW THEREFORE the council of the Corporation of the Town of Lakeshore hereby <br />enacts as follows: <br />1. By-law 4-2006 is amended by adding the following sections: <br />(1) 24.1 The Director of Engineering and Infrastructure Services, or <br />his/her designate, may issue temporary exemptions from the <br />provisions of this by-law to accommodate the events listed in <br />Schedule "K" of this by-law provided that he/she is satisfied that <br />the exemption does not create a hazardous situation and the <br />exemption is limited to twenty-four hours in duration. <br />(2) 24.2 (1) The Director of Engineering and Infrastructure Services, or <br />his/her designate, may issue temporary exemptions from <br />the provisions of this by-law to permit qualified medical in <br />home caregivers to park in close proximity to their client <br />provided the following criteria are met: <br />(a) the caregiver is employed by a known provider of <br />medical in home caregiving services; <br />(b) the exemption does not create a hazardous <br />situation; <br />(c) there is no reasonable alternative to address the <br />hardship that the exemption is intended to address; <br />(d) there is sufficient space in front of the property the <br />caregiver will be attending to accommodate the <br />parking of a vehicle; <br />(e) the exemption is for not longer than one year; <br />(2) If the Director of Engineering and Infrastructure Services, <br />or his/her designate, grants an exemption pursuant to this <br />section he/she shall issue a certificate to the caregiver to <br />whom the exemption is granted indentifying the parking <br />space to which the exemption shall apply and the expiry <br />date for the exemption and the exemption shall only be <br />effective provided the said certificate is visibly displayed on <br />the dash of the caregiver's vehicle. <br />2.
