AAC YAK <br />Essex County <br />Accessibility Advisory <br />Committee <br />Spring 2014 Volume 9 <br /> <br />Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) Updates <br />The following AAC’s have contributed information regarding their activities <br />during 2013 and planned initiatives for 2014: <br />Essex County Accessibility Advisory Committee <br />Activities for 2013 included: <br />• Assisted with identification of initiatives to be included in Multi-year <br />Accessibility Plan and commented on the Draft Multi-year Accessibility <br />Plan <br />• Provided comments for the Committee considering the feasibility of an <br />Accessibility and Functional Need Registry <br />• provided comments on the architectural drawings of the proposed <br />design for renovations to the Essex County Civic Centre <br />• Published 8th edition of the AAC YAK newsletter to share information <br />throughout Windsor and Essex County <br />• Participated in National Access Awareness Week by organizing a <br />Wheelchair Basketball Game at Western Secondary School and made a <br />presentation to Essex County Council <br />• Organized the 11th Annual Accessibility Workshop targeting different <br />audiences and concentrating on training on the Integrated Accessibility <br />Standards and also on invisible disabilities <br />• Recognition of International Day for Persons with Disabilities at Essex <br />County Council which included Training under the Integrated <br />Accessibility Standard regarding the Human Rights Code as well as <br />presenting the annual report on the achievements for 2013 as <br />identified in the Essex County Multi-Year Accessibility Plan and <br />requested 2014 Accessibility Workshop budget allocation <br />Volume 9, Spring 2014 1 AAC YAK
