<br />AAC YAK <br /> <br /> <br />VOLUME 7, SPRING 2012 <br /> <br />The Essex County Accessibility Advisory Committee is diligently working towards <br />th <br />another great day of learning and networking – our 10 Annual Accessibility <br />Workshop - Opening Doors and Minds. This year’s event will be held on <br />Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the St. Nicholas Macedonian Eastern Orthodox <br />Church Hall, 5225 Howard Avenue, LaSalle, Ontario. <br /> <br />Creating communities that are inclusive of and accessible to people who have <br />disabilities will be the message of this year’s Plenary Speaker. Drawing from his <br />life experiences, our speaker, John Draper, will share his insights and practical <br />strategies on how all of us can promote full citizenship for people who have a <br />disability. For more information on this year’s Accessibility Workshop, visit <br />www.countyofessex.on.ca. <br /> <br /> <br />ACCESSIBILITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE (AAC) UPDATES <br /> <br />The following AAC’s have contributed information regarding what they’ve been <br />busy doing. <br /> <br /> <br />ESSEXCOUNTYAAC <br /> CCESSIBILITY DVISORY OMMITTEE <br /> <br />The following initiatives were completed within the past year: <br /> <br />New ECAAC members were appointed in January 2011 for a four year term <br /> <br />Assisted with identification of initiatives to be included in 2011 Accessibility <br /> <br />Plan <br />Reviewed and commented on the Draft Accessibility Plan <br /> <br />Circulated the 2011 Draft Accessibility Plan to various individuals and <br /> <br />organizations within the disability community to seek comments and input <br />prior to the final Plan being presented to County Council in April 2011 <br />th <br />Published 6 edition of the AAC YAK newsletter to share information <br /> <br />throughout Windsor and Essex County <br />1 <br /> <br />
